To this day, the bread and circus living is still a satisfying way for people to live. People wonder though, what do you mean by "bread and circus". This means that with good entertainment "circus", people will be fed and will be satisfied with cheap food, which is the "bread". If people have a full stomach or are consuming food during the entertainment, they will pay more attention to the entertainment. People today still live by this as you see concessions at entertainment events.
